Founded in 1998, the Friends of the Topsham Library is a non-profit membership organisation dedicated to enhancing the library’s role as a cultural, educational, and recreational hub in the community. It supports the library through fundraising and volunteer efforts to enrich its services beyond what the regular budget covers.

Key Activities & Programs
The Friends contribute through a range of vibrant programs:
Annual Book Sale – their primary fundraiser, offering donated books, CDs, and DVDs at great prices
“JOY” Exhibits – including Joy of Art, Joy of the Lens, and Joy of the Pen, showcasing local artists and writers
Seasonal Programs – such as summer reading initiatives for all ages
Museum Passes – offering families access to nearby museums
Books on Wheels – delivering library materials to patrons who can’t visit in person
Plus additional events like Music in March, the Annual Fishing Rally, and Big Truck Day
Volunteering & Membership
A dedicated network of volunteers powers the Friends’ work. You can support them through:
Sorting and setting up for the book sale
Delivering books via Books on Wheels
Supporting membership drives, marketing and publicity
